What’s a Spam Trap?

A spam trap is an email address that looks valid but was never intended for communication. It's either:

  • Created by anti-spam entities to catch reckless senders

  • A once-legitimate address that’s now repurposed by ISPs as a trap

  • A fake or mistyped email address (like [email protected]) that no human owns

In any case, it's a tripwire.
And when you hit it, you send a signal to email providers that you're not a trustworthy sender.

Not a spammer, per se, just sloppy.
